What You Need To Know About Game Of Thrones So Far…

We’re about 30% of the way done with Games of Thrones, and holy sh*t things are going down. Jon Snow has officially risen and turned in his fabulous Lord Commander fur jacket; Sansa is safely in the clutches of Brienne and sex-god Pod heading to The Wall; Theon is soon to be reunited with his deadly uncle and pissed off sister; and King Tommen is a stone’s throw away from being disrespected at his funeral like his siblings. That’s not even everything and it’s still a mouth full.

Before Game of Thrones snatches any more edges or kills another 12-year old (although, f**k Olly), here’s a few things to know before episode four, Book of Stranger.

Who Is R? and why do we care about lyanna stark?

For those who are utterly confused on the fandom around episode three’s Tower of Joy flashback, listen up. R is Rhaegar Targeryen, who is the brother of Dany and the beloved of Elisa Martel. Upon ‘kidnapping’ Lyanna and inciting Robert’s Rebellion, he died at the hands of Robert in the war. This is where the Prince That Was Promised and the tournament at Harrenhal come into play. Lyanna was taken to the Tower Of Joy, and that’s where Ned found her ‘in a pool of blood.’ Before she died, she solicited a promise out of Ned and everyone’s been wondering what that promise is, possibly giving a whole new meaning to the prince who was promised.

Cersei’s Prophecy and who will kill her

Cersei-Cover

We all heard Maggy the Frog’s tellings to a young Cersei, but the show didn’t touch on everything. Yes all of her children will die, but Maggy also predicts Cersei’s “valonqar” — which means “little brother” in High Valyrian – will “choke the life out of her.” This brother in question is a topic of brutal Internet debate, and can honestly go either way. It could mean Tyrion, or in a better twist of events, Jamie. (Just thought about the fact Tommen is a younger brother and sipping the High Sparrow Kool-Aid – what if it were him?!?)  We would be so interested to see if the TV show plays this one through its entirety.

The Pink Letter, Or the bastard letter.

ramsay-1920

Book readers, it is upon us! There have been subtle easter eggs suggesting this storyline will be in the show. The Pink Letter is a letter that is sent out to all the high lords and ladies of Westeros once Ramsey Bolton takes Winterfell. The circumstances are completely diffferent as Mance Rayder is still alive, but the gist is John Snow is ‘tricked’ into believing the Boltons have Mance AND Arya. Now that TV Ramsey has a shiny grown Rickon, this letter may be making a comeback sooner than later! This would explain the Wildling fighting in the trailers.
